Freedom to Speak Up Guardian Role implemented across South Cheshire and Vale Royal GP Alliance
South Cheshire and Vale Royal GP Alliance have commissioned Howbeck Healthcare to provide the role of Freedom to Speak Up Guardian for its practices within the GP Alliance initially until the 31st March 2018. Howbeck Healthcare, who provide management support to the Alliance will also be providing this role to practices in neighbouring GP Federations for which it also provides management support.
Howbeck Healthcare have appointed a small team to lead and manage the scheme who will support practices in ensuring the appropriate policies and processes are in place to ensure compliance with the NHS England and CQC requirements for Freedom to Speak Up. Tina Cookson, has been formally appointed as the ‘Freedom to Speak Up’ Guardian and registered on the national guardian register. Tina worked in the NHS for over 34 years; 13 at an Executive Director level and has worked with Howbeck Healthcare since April 2016. Tina is a Registered Nurse and has received training in Freedom to Speak Up / Whistleblowing.
26 practices across South Cheshire and Vale Royal GP Alliance have confirmed that they wish to utilise the GP Alliance-wide Freedom to Speak Up Guardian.
