Referral Peer Review Panels
South Cheshire and Vale Royal GP Alliance has received confirmation that it has been successful with funding for practices to undertake referral peer review panels.
This follows feedback from a number of our local GPs who felt that peer review panels, reviewing referrals to acute services, was a good opportunity to;
- Identify new community clinical services that are needed to support primary care
- Look at opportunities for education and training for all GPs across the area
Funding is available for practices, to fund the GP time to participate in the reviews and associated work, but also for practice administration teams to support making referrals available for panels.
The panels will initially look at paediatric, gastrointestinal & liver, and neurology referrals. To identify new community clinical services that are needed to support patient care in primary care, and to look at opportunities for education and training for GPs. A training referral panel is due to be held in December 2017 before monthly panels commence in January 2018 for a 6 month period.
If you are a GP and would like to be involved in the panels or if you are a practice manager and would like more information about funding for the administrative function, as well as funding for GPs please email Lisa Taylor (lisa@howbeckhealthcare.co.uk) or Sue Ikin (sue.ikin@howbeckhealthcare.co.uk) for more information.
