This project has been designed in partnership with Macclesfield District General Hospital and Spire Healthcare, Macclesfield.
Managed via two separate contracts, the GP Alliance has commissioned each provider to provide Gynaecological, Upper Limb, Lower Limb and General Surgery services from within consultant led-clinics in practices in its local geographical area.
For Macclesfield District General Hospital, patients and practices now have an additional
choice of being seen by a consultant at either Meir Park, Alsager or Scholar Green Practice, or
for Spire Healthcare, patients now have the choice of being seen by a consultant at Ashfields
Practice in Sandbach. With regular fortnightly clinics, this has improved wait times for patients and practices referring. With the assurance that these are consultant led clinics, patients can
have a full consultation and assessment taken place closer to home without the need to initially enter the hospital environment. Should further scans or an operation be required, this is then transferred to the hospital environment.
