Healthy Lung Event

Human outline showing lungs

An evening meeting to discuss the very high incidence of lung cancer in Winsford and potential steps that could be taken to address it, hosted by Prof Ernie Welch.  Attendees were GPs, local patients and other interested parties.

  • Bev Price from Action on Cancer – experience with the ‘Every Breath You Take’ campaign in Crewe that involved chest x-ray self-referral
  • Mark Gleave from Healthbox – Quit Smoking support currently available and how to improve uptake among patients
  • Duncan Fullerton, respiratory physician from Mid Cheshire Hospitals Foundation Trust – lung cancer incidence locally and the experience with the Healthy Lung campaign in Manchester.

This event led to Winsford practices participating in the Winsford Health and Well Being where “lung health” was a theme to engage the public in.
