‘Smile for a Mile’ is the local name for a national initiative that aims to have primary school children and staff running / walking one mile a day to keep them active and healthy and enforce the positives of physical activity from an early age. The project is managed by Active Cheshire who create the resources for the school, train the staff and provide ongoing support for the schools.
Project Funding
The project was joint funded by Active Cheshire and Winsford Primary Care Home with each party contributing £2,500 + VAT.
Project Implementation Date
The project is being implemented by the ‘Smile for a Mile’ team in Active Cheshire. They provide an initial set up meeting, training for school staff, resources for the school, ongoing support and evaluation.
Practices in the Project
All the primary schools in Winsford are being offered the opportunity to have the ‘Smile for a Mile’ initiative set up for them by the Active Cheshire team.
